After not composing any solo classical guitar pieces since 1976, this album includes my classical guitar compositions from 1995 to 2003. The album consists of ten tracks in four compositions.

Arizona Desert Crescent Moon Celebration (2000)
On Christmas Eve night, coming home from a midnight service, I was struck by the light of the crescent moon against a clear black sky. The feeling stuck and was soon expressed in this composition

Irish monastic saint (c. 484 – c. 577)
I – Decision to Adventure
“Shall I abandon, O King of Mysteries, the soft comfort of home, turn my back on my native land and my face towards the sea?” (from Brendan’s Prayer on the Mountain)
II – Voyage
“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, then over us would have gone the raging waters.” (from Psalm 124)
III – Homecoming
“When the soul separates from the perverse body, and goes in bursts of light up from out of its human frame.” (Amy Carmichael)
New Life (1995)
I returned to solo classical guitar composition with this piece. But I put it aside for quite a few years, and discovered it was three pieces when I returned to it

Nei Passi di San Francesco (2001)
Much of this was composed on a trip to the province of Umbria, Italy, April-May, 2001.
I – Sacro Speco – Poggio Bustone
This meditative piece was mostly composed after climbing a long hill above the Italian town of Poggio Bustone to a cave where St. Francis had lived for a time. I sat in the sun outside the cave with a piece of manuscript paper and contemplated the peacefulness of this sacred place.
II – Fonte Columbo
Inspired by another peaceful place where St. Francis lived at one time.
III – La Verna
Inspired by the place where St. Francis lived later in his life, where he received the stigmata, the wounds of Christ.
